Introducing: Ibn Khaldun (1332-1406 AD)

The Muslims have a rich heritage of education, culture and language. It will benefit the world at large to get acquainted with some towering personalities from their history. These extraordinary scientists, scholars, poets and philosophers carved a niche for themselves in research and innovation that became the basis of some of the theories and concepts we take for granted in the modern world today.

One of these great people was Ibne Khaldun (Abū Zayd ‘Abd ar-Raḥmān ibn Muḥammad ibn Khaldūn al-Ḥaḍramī). He is best known for his book, the Muqaddimah. His father name was Muhammad Bin Khaldun. He was born in Tunisia in 1332 and died in 1406. He worked on many social sciences and emphasized the importance of empirical facts. He held close to his heart the importance of tribal solidarity as one of the greatest drivers for change. He wrote many books like Gist of the Compendium on the Principles of Religion, A. Guide For Those Who Try to Clarify Problems, The Muqaddimah, Autobiography and many more.
