Ramadan; A month of Blessings!

The 9th month; Ramadan-Alkareem is the Holy month for all Muslims, and Blessings are showered upon them. Muslims go a step ahead in being pious and virtuous by practicing good deeds in Ramadan which instill the habit of good deeds are carried throughout the year. Prophet Mohammad PBUH said in His Hadith:

“When the month of Ramadan comes, the doors of Heavens are opened and the doors of Hell are closed and the devils are chained”

The Holy Book of Quran was sent down in Ramadan, which increases the significance of the month further. Quranic Ayah States:

“Ramadan is the (month) in which the Quran was sent down, as a guide to mankind…”

Further, in 30 days of the month, Muslims perform Sau’m (Fasting) being a Divine obligation which is incumbent upon all adult Muslims. It is not the question of going without food; it actually strengthens the relationship between the man and his Creator, because the man avoids all sinful activities.

The Holy Quran states:

“The one, who fasts for a day for the sake of Allah, will find his face away from fire (Hell) to the extent of distance to be covered in seventy years.”

Apart from spiritual benefit, abstinence from food and water for an entire month is physically beneficial as well. It gives rest to stomach and cleanses extra elements such as cholesterol and toxic materials from the body.

Even a social benefit rises up, as when the whole Muslim community is fasting, it gives a sense of togetherness in the community.
